Detailed description of Forest Greens Golf Club

Forest Greens Golf Club is a Public 18 hole golf course located between the Quantico Marine Base and Prince William Forest Park in Triangle, Virginia. The course has been described as an upscale daily fee experience at less than an upscale green fee.

Forest Greens Golf Club first opened for play in 1996. The course was designed by Clyde Johnston.

The Forest Greens course has a wilderness feel to it despite its proximity to Washington, DC. Accurate tee shots to fairways lined with huge oaks and pines are essential to good scoring, but Johnston's links-style layout has very few blind shots and the greens are generally large with wide fringes. Highlights on the front nine include the par-5 at No. 5 with pot bunkers guarding the green and a challenging par 4 on the 9th. The back nine opens with Forest Green’s signature hole, a long par 5 that drops more than 80 feet from tee to green. The par 3 16th is one of the most scenic on the course and play concluded on another long par 5 at No. 18 with a multi-level fairway and an elevated green

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,790 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 4,957 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 10, a par-5 that plays to 574 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 16, a par-3 that plays to 170 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 10, the 574-yard par-5 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Forest Greens Golf Club is # 4, a 180 yard par-3.

Slow pace of play may have been due to it being Father's Day weekend.

This course will surprise you. It is very challenging with deceptive turns and edges. It looks like a standard course but has a links feel to it. Good place to play. Hilly.

Would travel: 30-60 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Better than average course for the area
